About

At Tas Worm Farm we love compost worms and have over twenty years of worm farming experience.
Our worms are all grown on our organic farm in Meander, Tasmania.

Compost worms are a great way to naturally dispose of your household compost. It is cheap, easy and very environmentally
friendly.

Worms are amazing creatures that can eat their own body weight in compost in a day.
Once food passes through a worm, the compost is further enriched with microbes and enzymes.

Worms are hermaphrodites which means they can breed with either a male, or a female, or in some cases they can even fertilise themselves.

Compost worms usually live for one to two years, but they have been known to live for up to fifteen years.

These worms lay eggs every two weeks under good conditions, with six to ten babies in an egg. This means that you can start with a small sample and quickly grow
your own thriving worm farm.

Compost worms do not like light, so they are best kept in a suitable storage unit (an example worm bin is shown below).

These compost bins are perfect for even the smallest backyards. They can be purchased from most leading hardware stores.
